The Mathematica Primer

About the Authors

We are all mathematics professors at the University of Maryland, College Park. We have been using Mathematica since its first release in 1988. We have used Mathematica in our research, in our mathematics courses, for presentations and demonstrations, for production of graphics for books and for the Web, and even for our taxes. We hope you'll find Mathematica as useful as we do, and that this book will help you learn to use it quickly and effectively.

We have previously collaborated on Differential Equations with Mathematica, a textbook designed as a supplement to a standard sophomore-level course in differential equations. (This supplement is also available in a Maple version, and we are considering writing a Matlab version.) A subset of the authors has also worked with Jonathan Rosenberg to write Multivariable Calculus and Mathematica, with Applications to Geometry and Physics.
