Grading: Syllabus. We will cover the bulk of the first nine chapters of the text and some of the last three, in agreement with the departmental syllabus available at http://www-math.umd.edu/offered-courses.html .

Religious observances. If your religion dictates that you cannot attend class on some dates, then contact me about this at the beginning of the semester for my record (email with day and date and reason for each miss) and to discuss possible alternatives.
