Number Theory at Poolesville: Homework

2019-2020, Dr. Ron Lipsman

There are three kinds of homework problems -- all taken from KW: Exercises, Projects and Computer Explorations. Most assignments will contain five (5) Exercises -- generally, three from the odd-numbered problems and two from the even-numbered problems. Hints and answers to odd-numbered problems may be found in the back of KW; but it is strongly suggested that you attempt them before consulting the text. The starred even-numbered problems constitute the homeork that you are expected to turn in. See the Assignments section of the main course web page for instructions on how and when to submit these problems.

Some assignments will contain one of the Projects problems and some will contain a problem from the Computer Explorations. If any of these is marked with an asterisk, it is to be turned in according to the same schedule as the Exercises. If it is not marked with an asterisk, it is optional; you may turn it in for extra credit. Again see the Assignments, and also the Grading Policy on the main page for the rules on these. Please also see the MATHEMATICA page for guidelines on when you can use the software to assist you in solving the problems.
