Ordinary Differential Equations

I am member of a team of faculty that has been involved in the modernization of the sophomore-level Ordinary Differential Equations course, Math 246. This effort has centered around the introduction of mathematical software systems (namely Mathematica, Maple and Matlab) into the course curriculum. Here is a Press Release that describes the project. The SCHOL team also has a homepage with more detailed information on the three software ODE books it has published. (SCHOL ODE Web page).

The SCHOL team has also written a Mathemtica Primer. This book can be used by both novice and experienced Mathemtica users, either as a course supplement or independently for learning, or refining one's knowledge of, Mathemtica. That project is described in the (SCHOL PRIMER Web page).

See the page MVC for a description of the other course development team, the CLeaR team, on which I am participating. That effort centers around the sophomore-level Multivariable Calculus course, Math 241.

Both the SCHOL and CLeaR teams have combined to write a Matlab Primer. This book can also be used by both novice and experienced Matlab users, either as a course supplement or independently for learning, or refining one's knowledge of, Matlab. That project is described in the (GUIDE TO MATLAB Web page).
