Math 403 Homework Page

Homework Policy

Homework will be due every week in this class on Wednesdays (barring special circumstances). I encouraged you to talk about the homework problems with each other because I think that talking about mathematics is one of the best ways to learn mathematics. However, the written work that you submit must be written by you in your own words.

Late homework will not be accepted but the lowest two grades will be dropped.

HW2 : due Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Suggested Reading: Gallian, Chapters 1-3.
HW3 : due Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Suggested Reading: Gallian, Chapters 4, 6, 7.
HW4 : due Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Suggested Reading: Gallian, Chapters 8-10.
HW5 : due Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Suggested Reading: Gallian, Chapter 5.
HW6 : due Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
HW7 : due Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
HW8 : due Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
HW9 : due Wednesday, April 7, 2014. Suggested Reading: Gallilan, Chapters 12-16.

Homework 8 is delayed until after Midterm 2 to give you time to study for the exam. Work the Practice Exam in Canvas and the Suggested Problems on this page. Suggested Reading: Chapter 24.

Practice Problems

If you feel like you need more practice, it is always a good idea to work problems from the text book. The odd numbered problems can be especially useful because you can check your answers by looking in the back of the book. Feel free to work as many problems as you like. To get you started, here is a list of suggested problems from the textbook listed by chapter.

You don't need to turn these in. You don't even need to do them if you don't feel like it. They are for you own pracice.

Suggested Practice for Miderm 1

I put a practice midterm on the canvas web page. This is an old exam from a course I taught a little bit differntly from this one. However, you should be able to do most of the problems, and it should give you a feel for what the exam should be lik.
